Securus Technologies Develops Drone Detection System

Securus Technologies is a leader when it comes to developing innovative technology solutions for our prisons and correctional facilities in the United States. Their cutting-edge technologies have always stayed on top of the game and has helped countless law enforcement officers detect and prevent illegal activities from happening within the incarceration environment. Desperate and cunning inmates will always try to find a new way to bring in drugs, weapons, cellphones or other contraband items into their cells. Their newest form of illegal distribution involves connected outside sources that are helping the inmates bring in contraband by the use of drones.

There were reports that drones were used to smuggle in contraband in the past three years in the United States alone. Securus Technologies have now successfully created a new drone detection system to help combat this troublesome problem before it becomes widespread. The company has spent more than 18 months alongside their partners to help test and evaluate this new technology. Its drone detection’s infrastructure uses a digital antennae structure, or DAS, to counter illegal drone activities. The company will continue to update and improve its drone detection services so it stay efficient and reliable in the long run.

Securus Technologies is an award-winning technology solutions company that has provided over 3,500 law enforcement, corrections agencies and public safety with reliable and trustworthy services. In 2018, the company has won three Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service. Securus’ Corporate Escalations department won a Gold Stevie Award for the “Customer Service Complaints Team of the Year” category and their customer service manger took home a Silver for “Customer Service Professional of the Year.” The Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service honor those that are committed to excellence and over 10,000 entries from companies are received each year.

Securus Technologies and Lockdown of Prison Security

To explain how violent it can be inside our local jail, you would really have to wear my shoes for a day. The minute I walk into the prison, I am at risk of danger from inmates who have little reason to be deterred any more due to lengthy sentences and overcrowded conditions. It is not a lost cause because we recently discovered that we can use the advances of Securus Technologies to help lock-down prison security.

Imagine if you will what conditions inside this jail are like for the inmates, regardless of what crimes they have committed. In the past we would have only a few inmates per cell, and when they are out of their cells you could safely walk the yard or the mess hall. Today, there are a dozen men crammed in a tiny cell, and the yard and mess hall look like a outdoor concert. Each one of those inmates could be either high on drugs or possess a weapon, and we walk within striking distance all day long.

We count on Securus Technologies to reduce violent episodes by helping us to get drugs and weapons out of the jail before they can be used to harm others. The LBS software is an incredible piece of equipment that not only hears every word the inmates are saying, it can free up man-power that normally would have to listen to the inmates using the house phones.

Securus Technologies has a headquarters in Dallas, and already installed thousands of their telephone monitoring systems around the states. To give you an example of how effective the software is, this week we intercepted a call where an inmate was talking to his family about them sneaking prescription drugs to him at the visitor center. Before they met, we isolated the family and confiscated all the contraband.
